A study to assess the impact of social media on educational system among nursing students in selected college at Chennai

The aim of the research was to evaluate the impact of social media in educational system among nursing students in selected college. The descriptive exploratory research design was adopted. The study was done on 30 samples selected by simple random sampling technique from a selected college. The data was collected through questionnaire (Demographic variable) and JOHN BATUIGAS survey tool with 15 questionnaires. After obtaining the permission from the concerned authorities, the data was collected. Each question consists 15 marks. With regard to Social media influencing educational system indicates less than 25, between 25-50 is moderately Influenced and more then 50 is highly influenced by social media in academic performance. The results revealed that half of the samples 12 (40.01) spend most of their time in social media for more than 3 hrs. 8(26.7%) spend 2 -3 hours, 6(20.0%) spend 1-2 hours and remaining only 4(12.3%) spend less than 1 hour. All 30-sample accessed social media through mobile phone, in that majority of nursing students 26(86.7%) were moderately influenced by social media in their academic performance, few students 3(10.0%) were highly influenced, only 1(3.3%) was less influenced by social media.
